Welcome to
Physical Education
at Kyung Hee University!
Department of Physical Education in Kyung Hee University was established in 1949 and became a college in 1955. It was the first physical education university and one of the major institutions of higher learning in Korea. Since its foundation, the university has always attached importance to the integration of teaching, scientific research and sports training and adhered to the principle of being strict and seeking truth in academic pursuance. Physical education instruction changed and evolved during the period. I am delighted to be joining the University during an exciting period of leadership and growth. At the heart of Physical Education's success are dedicated staff and outstanding students and faculty members.
The major goal of the university is to train highly-qualified physical education teachers, sports science researchers, sports coaches, instructors, and administrative personnel.
The university provides complete facilities for teaching, sports training and scientific researches. It is engaged in a wide range of study, from the role of neuromuscular systems in controlling movement to the business of managing sport facilities, from ways to prevent sports injuries to new directions in physical education. The common thread that brings us together is the study of human movement. It offers complete specialties and subjects of studies in physical education and sports. It has been authorized to award the Doctor's Degree and to award the Master's Degree on four majors of studies.
In 1999, the College of Physical Education was reorganized with four majors including Physical Education, Coaching, Sports Medicine and Golf Management, and the Department of Taekwondo. At present the university is making every effort to meet the requirement of the socialist market economy for qualified personnel of physical education and sports. It is seeking new ways of education, and marching toward its goals and to build one of the best of its kind on the international scene.
I am confident that the School of Physical Education will prove an excellent choice for your future.
